Breast Reduction With Dr. Romanelli
This busy working mom in her early 40s came to see Dr. Romanelli about a breast reduction. Uncomfortable for years, the patient suffered from grooves and pain in her shoulders, a sore back, and esthetic issues from the large size of her breasts. She was interested in quite a large reduction, and if approved, her out-of-network benefit plan would cover the cost of the procedure. Upon examination, Dr. Romanelli found her to be an excellent candidate for breast reduction. She fit the formula (a simple height/weight/breast size scale) for an insurance-approved surgery. The patient wasted no time in scheduling and making arrangements! The surgery took just over three hours, and over 1700 grams of breast tissue was taken out. In her case, a free nipple technique was done, in which case the nipple is removed and then replaced once the breast is lifted and reshaped. Many patients request a change of nipple size, as this patient did. The photos that you see here are shortly after surgery, and in time, her scars will fade considerably.
